Guppy’s Chocolates

Introducing a new product to our Little Budworth Farm Shop; Guppy’s Chocolates. We have a wide selection of Guppy’s chocolate shards plus truffle collections and chocolate boxes.

Guppy’s chocolates are handmade and hand packaged in York by Peter and Fran Guppy who are passionate about all things chocolate!

Both Peter and Fran worked for large companies in the financial services sector, but it was always a dream of theirs to have their own family run business. Chocolate had always been a passion of theirs and before the younger generation of Guppy’s came along, Guppy’s Chocolates was a part-time hobby where all their chocolates were made in the kitchen! In mid 2010, they decided to put the business first, converted their garage into a chocolate factory, gave up their jobs and turned their hobby into a full time job!

Increased demand meant that the garage and house were nearly fit to burst with chocolate & packaging materials, so at the start of 2013 they left the garage factory and moved into premises on Clifton Moor in York. As trade increased, they relocated again in April 2016 to larger premises.

Fran and Peter still hand make all their chocolates & package them by hand on the premises – just with a little more room! They pride themselves on carrying on the family traditions of the Rowntrees and Terry’s families, who handmade great quality chocolates in the City of York. They are hopeful that the new generation of Guppy’s will enjoy being part of the business as they get older – they are apparently already very good at tasting & putting on stickers!
