Pancake Day

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, falls this year on Tuesday the 9^thof February. Long ago this was a day for feasting and having a good time. People went to church to confess the bad things they had done and would be ‘shriven’ or forgiven before the start of Lent. Rich foods such as eggs were forbidden during Lent, so one way of using them up would be to make pancakes.

Don’t forget you can buy your ingredients for Pancake Day here at The Hollies Farm Shop, plus lots of delicious toppings including fresh fruit, maple syrup, chocolate sauce and Cheshire Farm Ice Cream. The Coffee Shop at both Little Budworth and Lower Stretton will be serving a range of savoury and sweet pancakes on the 9^th as part of their daily specials board alongside the usual menu.
