Jo’s Cakes
This Month we have chosen local supplier Jo’s Cakes as our supplier of the month. Back in 2009, The Hollies discovered Jo’s cakes and we certainly haven’t looked back since! A family business from Acton Bridge, Cheshire, Jo’s Cakes is run by Mum Jo and Daughter Emily, plus Jo’s Husband Rob who delivers the cakes twice a week to The Hollies around his main job as a dairy farmer.
Jo began baking wholesale in 2004 when baking for other mums from school led to a request to supply to a store. 5 years later we approached Jo about supplying The Hollies. At this time, Jo was supplying 12 cakes here and 11 cakes there and she remembers the shock when we asked Jo to supply us and ordered 72 cakes!
Fast forward 10 years and Jo now supplies us with around 500 cakes per week! During the Christmas period of 2017, Jo made 25,500 mince pies for The Hollies Farm Shops!
This year, Jo and Emily kindly helped us out with our staff charity bake off to raise money for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital. Jo and Emily were our brave judges, tasting each of our cakes and picking our winners! Jo kindly donated the amazing prize of receiving one of her cakes every week during May which sure got a few more entrants to pay the entrance fee and meant we had lots more cakes to sell! Thank you so much for your support Jo in helping us to raise £230.78 for our charities!
Next time you fancy a scrumptious treat, head to The Hollies at Little Budworth and Lower Stretton and take a look at Jo’s Cakes, delivered every Tuesday and Friday! Chocolate cakes, Viennese whirls, rocky roads, lemon drizzles, fairy cakes… the choices continue…
